![]() I look forward to visiting Alo Alo every trip I make to Africa. ![]() I get the same thing year after year - the Beef curry and the hot chocolate sauce and Ice cream Sunday. When I travel I love trying the cultural food but I get to a point I just need to balance it out with a taste of home cooked food. You wont walk away feeling you had an amazing cultural experience from Africa but you will walk away with a place you know the food is just good, simple and nice tasting. I think as a tourist this place is somewhere you want to go for simple, not over the top but delicious food. I like the menu selection of simple good food. It is an old school restaurant so reminds me of my childhood. I come because it has a nice peaceful setting in a garden. I come to this restaurant every time I'm in Harare. Anyway I'll write for tourist that some how do find their way here: Harare and its not like tourists visit Harare for a little restaurant in the Suburbs. Hard to know who to write a review for, this restaurant has plenty of loyal locals so they wont be looking it up on trip advisor and its not exactly a place you would visit as a tourist only because its in the suburbs of. who doesnt want oxtail stew and mash? Take it home, warm it up on the gas and pretend you beem slaving all afternoon slw cooking it? Despite no Zesa! More The take away ready meals are delish! And at $5.00 ( and the meal easily can stretch to two meals) iTS A REAL VALUE FOR MONEY. sometimes one needs to indulge someone: this is the plave to so it! Wemt bavk another day for afternoon tea which was PURE indulgence…. its very olde worldy and lets face it: not EVERYTHING was baf in the olden days! it reminded me of the fine traditional Zimbabwean hospitality. The waiters were trained PROPERLY: they are mature and definately adhere to the ‘Guest is God’ sort of pampering! We only had a lunch time beer and a bowl of chips beer…… but the beer was served with such grace and ceremony…. full of that bespoke olden days ambience.
